Prairie Fire

During the early 19th century regional Indian tribes in what is now Illinois gathered together to harvest buffalo for the winter. For days westward travel came to a halt as the heavy smoke often obscured the sun for days and settlers waited in the area now known as Naperville, founded by Joseph Naper in 1831.
